Women Should Be Represented In Decision Making Roles Within The Catholic Church

Women have been excluded and misrepresented in the Catholic Church for too long. There are structures of the Catholic Church that make it difficult for women to open up about their experiences, so we must support one another.

Women have no one to appeal to about the physical, mental or power abuse they experience.  Begging the question – What can we do about it? We can share our experiences, our stories and spread awareness so that no one else has to go through this same struggle. That’s why Voices of Faith has started the global campaign #OvercomingSilence. A campaign that focuses on uniting voices across the globe to talk about this issue openly and as one.

In the Roman Curia, the majority of females have never been appointed to leadership positions. So, when it comes to making decisions that impact both men and women there is no one to represent women’s opinions, suggestions and ideas. This is even more ironic when we consider that the majority of the Catholic Church are female. That’s the reason we need a clear representation of women in roles of leadership and women in decision making.

Women should not be prevented from sharing the same set of rights and responsibilities as men. They shouldn’t be restricted from leadership and decision making roles. Let’s join together and fight the patriarchy for a brighter, more inclusive future in the Roman Catholic Church.

Advocacy For Women Initiative

What is the point of having the freedom to express yourself when you don’t use it? We must be grateful for living in a time where you can openly share your views with others.

There are always going to be oppressors but don’t let them intimidate you into keeping quiet.
The male dominated state of the Catholic Church is by no means new. For that reason, Voices of Faith has set a goal, a goal that we think is achievable – By 2030 we want to see 30% of leadership roles at the Vatican open to and filled by women.

Voices of Faith has several advocacy for women initiatives to achieve this goal. One of our projects is our digital campaign #OvercomingSilence.

We started this campaign with a vision to unite voices across the globe to talk about women in decision making and leadership roles inside the Catholic Church. To be a part of this wonderful step towards bringing change, you simply have to upload a photo and message of equality that will be sent to the leaders of the Catholic Church.

Did you know that Pope Francis and top Vatican officials support the need to bring more women to top leadership positions at the Roman Curia? But not they must take action adn Voices of Faith shares the same vision and will push to keep them accountable to their words.
We consider women as agents of change and want the Church to follow transparent and merit-based hiring for leadership positions.

A single voice can make a lot of difference and we have around 1,300 voices. The future of women inside the church depends on you. You can help transform the way the Church perceives the role of a woman. Visit our website to join our initiatives and be heard:

3rd October Event- Find Out What Sisters Have To Say?

Be the change you want to see. There is no fun in keeping quiet about the problems you know should be fixed. Looking the other way is never the solution as it doesn’t get rid of the issue, only prolongs it.

synod of bishops

Ignoring the issue at hand only makes it worse for the person who faces it next. Voices of Faith is taking a stand, a stand against gender discrimination in the Catholic Church. We think it is time that Catholics speak up about the changes they want to see in the Catholic Church.

We are bringing religious women from around the world to talk about this issue and put a stop to the long ongoing abuse of power.

It’s shocking to see that even in today’s modern era, women are not in positions of power alongside men. To date, no religious sister has ever been able to vote at Synods convened by any Pope, only Bishops. There reason is unknown…

You tell us, is it fair that sisters with the same skill-set, knowledge, and capabilities as our religious brothers are not given the right to vote at these Synods? No, right!

Voices of Faith is bringing a tide of change. We are organizing an event in Rome on the 3rd of October this year. Our motive behind this is to listen to what religious sisters from across the globe have to say about women in leadership and decision-making roles.

We want sisters to come together and discuss solutions for changing the current situation. It will bring us closer to one of our goals – to see sisters cast their first-ever vote in the upcoming Synod of Bishops in Amazonia.

Every opinion counts. So, share your views on what a Catholic Church should look like in the future.
Are you in Rome and want to attend this event? You need to register with us by the 15th of September to reserve your seat by emailing us at zuzanna.flisowska@voicesoffaith.org.

Don’t worry if you can’t be physically present to be a part of this event, you can live-stream it and witness sisters openly talk about power abuse and ways to end it once and for all!
